Signature Pieces

These works mark different points on a continuing creative path. Some are the end of a long process, others the start of new ideas. Made from dice, coins, stones and resin — often used in unexpected ways — many also have playful or slightly cheeky titles that add a bit of personality to the finished piece.

Finding a medium that could carry it, then seeing how far that medium could go, is the journey.

COLLECTIONS

A series of multi-view and dual-view works created from carefully oriented dice. By changing the viewing angle, different images emerge from the same arrangement. Each piece is fully encapsulated in clear epoxy resin.

Portraits and designs made from washed and hand-sorted stones. The stones are carefully placed to form the image and finished with a clear epoxy resin top coat that protects the surface while bringing out the natural colours and textures of the materials.

Works created from British coins, primarily one-penny pieces. The coins are individually placed to form portraits, flags and iconic designs, then encapsulated in clear resin. Some pieces use the natural tones of the coins, while others incorporate colour through resin or paint.

Mixed Media brings together various materials and techniques, sometimes on the unusual side. Resin is often combined with other elements to create unique, one-off pieces. Some begin as playful experiments, while others are more considered from the start. These works explore surface, texture and everyday objects in unexpected ways, sitting somewhere between sculpture and painting.

About the Artist

Trig is a UK artist working from a studio in Essex. A lot of the work starts as a joke or a play on words. Then it becomes a problem: how to make one object hold more than one image or meaning. Some of those problems take years.

BEHIND THE SCENES

A closer look at how some of the pieces come together. This page showcases a selection of process photos and timelapse videos that follow the different stages of making — from early layouts and material selection through to the final encapsulation. Some sequences capture the slow build of a coin or dice portrait, while others show resin pours, stone placement, or the more experimental mixed media works taking shape.
