Elephant in the Room

What:

1p Coins, glued and grouted onto a wooden board with a clear Epoxy Resin top coat African Bull Elephant

Why:

Wanted a penny floor but knew it would dominate the room, so I needed something that  people could ignore.

After 6 years it was removed and framed.

Why:

Inspired by my previous dice pieces, I liked the idea of the cubes changing colours when viewed at different angles. It can seem that either nothing changes or everything changes.

Combining penny coins with Queen Elizabeth's II portrait in the pattern of the Union flag just seemed right.

NHS 2019

What:

Blue Plasters, Bandages,  10p 2019 NHS coin, Epoxy Resin and Wooden Frame

Why:

Using the plasters and bandages to create the logo came first with the idea for phosphorescent pigments representing the NHS's 24/7 work as the logos coloured background. The NHS minted coin for 2019 added to the reasons for creating the piece.
